It took 127,000 miles, but my Echo finally needed a major repair: the brakes. I would have skipped it, but when you think about it, stopping is one of the two major functions of a motor vehicle (second only to going), so I splurged, then cleaned up and drove the car to the repair shop.

After picking it up, I wanted to test out the repairs, and the City is definitely a good place to test out how well a car...stands...still. Lemme tell you, when I'm at a stoplight now, I don't move a fuckin' inch! And in that downtown Saint Frank's traffic, luxury car owners can only dream about going slower than me now. Some moron in a Suburban cut me off on 280, and when I jammed on my new brakes, they worked so well, I actually went backwards in time far enough to expose his grandfather's genitals to high doses of radiation, negating his existence and thus avoiding the accident completely.

The only drawback was that the repair shop went overboard on all things brakely and adjusted my emergency brake. I was unaware of this minor detail until I arrived back at work and went to set the hand brake. The doctor says once they reattach my shoulder, it should heal in a matter of months.
